Serious Crime Drops by Up to 71% in Faisalabad Region; 376 Gangs Busted: Police
A sustained police crackdown has led to a significant reduction in serious crime across the Faisalabad region, with a drop of up to 71% since December 2025. According to police spokesman Rizwan Bhatti, this success is attributed to the Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision for a "Safe Punjab."
Under the supervision of Regional Police Officer Sohail Akhtar Sukhaira, the police have achieved remarkable results:
- Murder Incidences: A 27% decrease.
- Robbery-cum-Murder Cases: Reduction of 54%.
- Dacoity Incidents: 66% drop.
- Robbery Cases: 62% decline.
The police also made notable strides in combating other crimes:
- Car Snatching: 67% reduction.
- Motorcycle Snatching: 66% decrease.
- Other Vehicle Snatching: 57% drop.
In total, the police arrested 1,012 members of 376 dangerous gangs, resolving 3,089 cases across Faisalabad, Jhang, Chiniot, and Toba Tek Singh districts. Recovered property includes motorcycles, gold ornaments, mobile phones, livestock, and cash valued at over Rs312.9 million.
The campaign against drug dealers was equally successful:
- Registered Cases: 6,742
- Arrested Traffickers: 6,835
- Seized Drugs: Hashish (482.356 kg), ice (133.99 kg), liquor (92,593 liters), opium (16.53 kg), and heroin (363.857 kg)
Action against illegal weapon possession resulted in:
- Registered Cases: 3,204
- Recovered Weapons: 2,793 pistols, 29 revolvers, 178 guns, 51 Kalashnikovs, 153 rifles, and 92,593 rounds of ammunition.
Enforcement of the Kite Flying Act led to:
- Registered Cases: 1,534
- Arrested Accused: 1,541
- Confiscated Kites and Reels: 100,433 kites and 2,548 reels.
The regional police also made significant inroads against proclaimed offenders and court absconders:
- Murder Accused Arrested: 246
- Attempted Murder Suspects: 305
- Category-A Proclaimed Offenders: 2,544
- Category-B Proclaimed Offenders: 7,083
- Court Absconders Arrested: 815 (Category-A) and 7,774 (Category-B)
Highlighting the public-service aspect of their work, Rizwan Bhatti noted that the open-door policy allowed authorities to resolve over 7,165 citizen issues through daily open courts and 1,787 online complaints. Through 16 Khidmat Markaz and 20 Khidmat Counters, they provided various services to 366,847 citizens. Additionally, 366,847 complaints received at four Tahaffuz Centers and six Meesaq Centers were addressed.
