Targeting Rizwan without solid evidence amounts to making him a scapegoat, says former speedster.
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Sep, 2026) Former cricketers have strongly criticised the way allegations against Test cricketer Mohammad Rizwan are being handled.
They questioned the absence of solid evidence and the fact that no formal written charge has been issued against the former Pakistan captain.
Former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar, known as the Rawalpindi Express, said targeting Rizwan without solid evidence amounted to making him a scapegoat.
Former Test cricketer Mohsin Khan stated that unproven allegations of fixing and gambling damage a player’s reputation.
Former fast bowler Junaid Khan also expressed concern, saying Rizwan had not been given any written allegation or formal indictment so far. He added that the inquiry had forced Rizwan to cancel his scheduled journey to perform Umrah.
The criticism comes at a time when no specific legal or contractual violation by Rizwan has so far been publicly identified.
