Siblings Die After Consuming Suspected Poisonous Food in Lahore; Parents in Critical Condition

Two children from the same family died after allegedly consuming poisonous food in Lahore’s Harbanspura area, while their parents were shifted to the hospital in critical condition.

Incident Details

According to initial reports from police and rescue officials, the incident occurred at a house in Harbanspura, where the family had eaten leftover aloo gobi curry. Shortly after consuming the curry, the husband, wife, and their two children suddenly fell ill, suffering severe vomiting and bouts of unconsciousness. Local residents promptly alerted Rescue 1122, who transported the victims to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.

Despite medical staff’s best efforts, both children succumbed to their injuries during treatment. The deceased children were identified as Qadeer and Asma. Their father and mother remain in extremely critical condition, receiving treatment in the ICU.

Police and Forensic Investigation

Upon receiving the news, a substantial police contingent, the Crime Scene Unit, and teams from the Punjab Forensic Science Agency arrived at the scene. Forensic experts collected food samples from the kitchen and utensils, the leftover curry, and other relevant evidence for laboratory analysis. The Punjab Food Authority was also called in to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the potential poisonous substances.

Initial findings suggest that a poisonous insect or lizard may have contaminated the curry during the night, rendering the food highly toxic. The precise cause of the incident will be determined upon the release of the forensic report and chemical examination results.
