Tottenham transfer news: Spurs have agreed a deal to sign Savinho from Manchester City for an initial £75m, according to Enzo Maresca. The Brazilian winger will have a medical before signing a long-term contract with the North London club, who could pay up to £10m in add-ons.
Background:
The 22-year-old Savinho joined Manchester City from French club Troyes in 2024 but sought a move due to limited playing time under Pep Guardiola. Spurs initially failed to sign him last summer.
Maresca's perspective:
"It's quite clear when players want to leave, for any reason, then it's complicated to convince them to stay or change their thoughts... It happened with Rodri, the same thing is happening with Savinho - since day one he asked me that he wants to leave. So now we are waiting."
Spurs' summer spending:
Having already signed Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali, Roberto de Zerbi aims to bolster his attack. Talks are progressing for Omar Marmoush, a £59m signing from Eintracht Frankfurt last year who could also join Savinho at Tottenham.
Savinho's numbers at Manchester City:
Over 84 appearances, he has scored seven goals and provided 13 assists. Despite this, his opportunities were limited in the Premier League, managing just two goals.
Further notes:
Spurs are expected to break their summer spending record, surpassing £300m, after recouping approximately £140m through player sales.
