SSGC to Extend Gas Supply to 261 Sindh Villages by 2029
SSGC (Sui Southern Gas Company) plans to extend gas supply to 261 villages and towns in five Sindh districts by FY2028-29, according to official documents. This initiative involves a comprehensive pipeline network of 684.91 kilometers, at an estimated cost of Rs 5.73 billion.
The Four-Phase Plan:
The project is structured into four phases, covering the periods FY2025-26 to FY2028-29. The primary objective is to provide gas connections to 8,914 prospective customers in areas surrounding various producing fields in Sindh.
Phase One (FY2025-26):
- Covers Kousar, Tangri, and Gambat South fields in Matiari, Tando Mohammed Khan, and Sanghar districts.
- Targets 88 villages with a 179.4 km pipeline network.
- Estimated cost: Rs 1.45 billion.
Phase Two (FY2026-27):
- Includes Bobi and Hassan fields in Sanghar and Shikarpur districts.
- Aiming to reach 46 villages with a 178.52 km pipeline network.
- Projected cost: Rs 1.495 billion.
Phase Three (FY2027-28):
- Covers Naimat Basal, Jakhoro, Wariyah, and Bukhari fields in Sanghar and Tando Mohammed Khan districts.
- Serves 67 villages with a 171.97 km pipeline network.
- Estimated expenditure: Rs 1.408 billion.
Phase Four (FY2028-29):
- Involves Sanghar East (Naimat ul Basal), Sujawal, and Koonj fields in Sanghar, Sujawal, and Shikarpur districts.
- Covers 60 villages with a 155.02 km pipeline network.
- Projected cost: Rs 1.373 billion.

In aggregate, these four phases will benefit 261 villages and towns, spanning 684.91 kilometers of pipelines and catering to 8,914 prospective customers. The total project cost is estimated at Rs 5.726 billion, with the government contributing Rs 5.245 billion (91.6%) and SSGC providing Rs 481.36 million (8.4%).
