GENEVA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM – 09th Sep, 2026) The
World
Health Organisation (WHO) has stated that staff shortages and funding are significant challenges in the fight against Ebola in the
Democratic Republic of the Congo
, as the outbreak spreads beyond its initial epicenter in
Bunia
.
The organisation has called for enhanced international support, emphasizing the need for additional partners to operate treatment centers and provide patient care.
According to WHO, nearly 1,400 treatment beds have been established across 59 treatment centers, while 1,600 more beds are required. Approximately 9,000 health workers are needed to support the planned treatment capacity, along with adequate personal protective equipment and medical supplies.
WHO underscored the importance of fully operational treatment centers and qualified personnel to save more lives and contain the outbreak.
