Sufis Played Vital Role In Spreading Islam In Subcontinent: Governor Punjab

(LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 17th Aug, 2026)) Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan stated that sufis significantly contributed to the spread of Islam across the subcontinent.

During a visit to the shrines of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh Ali Hajveri (RA) and Bibi Pakdaman on Monday, he expressed that visiting these shrines revitalizes one’s soul and strengthens faith.

The Governor laid a floral wreath at the shrines, recited Fateha, and offered special prayers for the country’s development and progress. He also performed nawafil prayers within the shrine’s premises.

A detailed briefing was provided to the Governor on the ongoing renovation and development works at Data Darbar. He additionally visited the Data Darbar Gallery and reviewed the displayed pictures.

Sardar Saleem Haider Khan emphasized that sufis played a pivotal role in disseminating Islam’s light through their actions and teachings. He noted the importance of learning from the shrines of saints.

He advocated for promoting peace and brotherhood through the teachings of sufis, emphasizing that Islam does not tolerate sectarianism.

The Punjab Governor commended the current government’s efforts in beautifying and renovating religious sites and shrines. He prioritized providing convenient facilities to pilgrims visiting these shrines.
