Susan Sarandon Leads Tributes to Rocky Horror Picture Show Co-Star Tim Curry

Tim Curry, best known for his role as Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, has died at the age of 80.
Stars from stage and screen, including Sarandon and Carol Burnett, are paying tribute to the English actor. Curry originated the character of Dr Frank-N-Furter on stage before becoming an iconic figure in the movie adaptation.
Curry’s career spanned six decades, with notable performances in Home Alone 2, Annie, It, and The Hunt for Red October.
"What I loved about him most was his heart," said Oscar-winner Sarandon, who played Janet Weiss in The Rocky Horror Picture Show. She continued, "Even wheelchair bound he continued to be so sweet and generous with his fans. Thank you Tim for meaning so much to so many people."
Curry’s manager, Marcia Hurwitz, confirmed his passing: "He passed away peacefully at his home in Toluca Lake, Los Angeles on August 25." Curry had suffered a major stroke in 2012 and used a wheelchair since.
Australian actress Nell Campbell, who starred alongside Curry in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, expressed her grief: "I feel like the head of our family has just died because he was the head of the Rocky Horror family."
Welsh actor Luke Evans, who played Frank-N-Furter on Broadway, described Curry as "a force… an exquisite charm," and thanked him for his fearlessness in creating something enduring.
The official Rocky Horror Picture Show Broadway account echoed this sentiment, stating that Curry gave the world "a little more freedom, a little more fearlessness, and through the tears in our eyes, the courage to BE IT."
Richard O’Brien, writer and composer of the musical and film, remembered Curry as "a wonderful man by nature who was also a wonderful performer. He never sought attention… He was, in short, a good egg and class act."
