Journalist Asma Shirazi expressed her concerns regarding rising petrol and diesel prices and inflation. She accused the government of squeezing the public for oil, describing it as "straight robbery" of their pockets.
Responding to a tweet by former Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry, Shirazi highlighted the disparity in fuel price increases between Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh during the US-Iran conflict. She further criticized the government’s expenditure on vehicles while Maryam Nawaz Sharif enjoys an expensive vacation in London.
Shirazi likened the situation to the Mongol looting of Baghdad, emphasizing a lack of opposition voice. She noted the daily increase in petroleum product prices by the government. Recently, the government announced a significant rise in fuel prices, with petrol increasing by Rs5.58 per litre and diesel by Rs4.18 per litre.
