Three people have been arrested during rival protests in Portsmouth, including a 76-year-old man suspected of concealing his identity after Hampshire Police used new powers under the Crime and Policing Act to prevent protesters wearing face coverings that conceal their identity.
- A 33-year-old Portsmouth man was arrested on suspicion of obstructing a highway.
- A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder linked to a similar protest at Eastney Marina on Sunday.
The city centre protests follow disorder on 6 September, when police attended Eastney Marina as hundreds of demonstrators blocked roads in an attempt to stop coaches carrying 120 migrants, who had crossed the Channel in a dinghy, from leaving the city.
