TMC Organises Mega Tree Plantation Drive on Defence Day in Sukkur

SUKKUR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 8th Sep, 2026) – A mega tree plantation drive was organised by the Town Municipal Corporation (TMC) Sukkur on the occasion of Pakistan Defence Day on Saturday to promote environmental protection and enhance green cover in the city.
Over 40 community members along with the Sindh Rural Support Organisation (SRSO) team of Sukkur district actively participated in the drive. The initiative aimed at raising awareness among communities about the vital role of trees in building a healthy and sustainable future and promoting collective action for climate resilience. Participants planted saplings at designated sites and highlighted the importance of environmental conservation for a greener Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, Senior District Manager of the SRSO, Muhammad Akram Shaikh said that by linking the plantation campaign with Defence Day, the event conveyed a powerful message that protecting the environment is also a form of national service.
"Just as the defenders of Pakistan have safeguarded the country’s borders, every citizen can contribute to the nation’s future by protecting its natural resources," said Chairman TMC Nisar Ahmed Siddiqui.
The drive concluded with a pledge to continue efforts for a cleaner and greener Pakistan under the theme of ‘Defend Pakistan and Protect Nature, Plant for the Future’.
