US President Donald Trump has made a surprising claim, stating that he narrowly escaped the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon and was carried to safety by firefighters. This isn’t the first time he’s made this assertion; he also claimed it during his initial election campaign.
A Controversial Statement
Trump shared his account while addressing a White House ceremony honoring emergency personnel who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks. According to him, he was at a construction site that day and immediately joined the relief efforts upon hearing about the attack on television. He described witnessing the severe damage to a nearby building, which he believed was in danger of collapsing.
“We thought the building was coming down on us,” Trump recalled, "and then two tall and powerful firefighters grabbed me by the arms and told me we had to get out of there.”
Media Response
However, US media outlets like CNN and The New York Times have disputed Trump’s claim. They spoke to eyewitnesses who did not confirm his involvement in relief work. Furthermore, his niece, Mary Trump, described his statement as "a pack of lies" in an interview.
