US President Donald Trump will arrive at Dublin Airport on Saturday morning for a two-day visit to Ireland.
Scheduled Meetings and Events:
- Courtesy call with Irish President Catherine Connolly.
- Bilateral meeting with Taoiseach (Irish Prime Minister) Micheál Martin.
- Events at the US Ambassador to Ireland Ed Walsh's residence in Dublin's Phoenix Park.
- Attendance at the Amgen Irish Open golf tournament at Trump International Golf Links and Hotel Doonbeg, County Clare, which he owns.
Previous Visits:
Trump visited the Republic of Ireland in 2019 and 2023, spending time at his golf course during his most recent trip.
Security Preparations:
Irish authorities have been planning for Trump's visit for months, expecting it to be one of the biggest security operations in the state's history.
Protests:
Thousands are expected to attend protests in Dublin and another protest is planned in Doonbeg. While Trump will not be near the American Embassy, a small number of crowd control barriers have been placed beside it. His sons Eric and Donald Trump Jr. are expected to accompany him in Doonbeg.
Taoiseach's Comments:
"I look forward to welcoming President Trump to Ireland and to discussing the many issues of mutual interest," said Taoiseach Micheál Martin in a statement, adding his hope for an Irish winner at the Irish Open on Sunday.
Trump's Interest in Golf:
An avid golf fan, Trump expressed his desire to travel to Doonbeg to watch the Irish Open in a video message broadcast during a Fourth of July celebration event at the US Embassy.
