Uefa to Push for Infantino Removal

Uefa will continue its efforts to remove Gianni Infantino from his position as Fifa president, despite withdrawing its threat to boycott football competitions.
On Thursday, Uefa plans to present a letter guaranteeing the non-revival of the Fifa Forward Enterprise (FFE) plan to member associations, confirming the official withdrawal of the boycott. This move will satisfy Uefa’s conditions for European teams’ participation in upcoming tournaments.
However, according to BBC Sport, Uefa is optimistic about finding a unity candidate to challenge Infantino in the March election. The vote is expected to be tight, requiring 106 out of 211 member associations’ support.
While Uefa has dropped its plan for a vote of no confidence (requiring 159 votes), any victory for Infantino could significantly damage his presidency due to the close margin.
Last month, European football’s 55 member associations voted to boycott Fifa competitions until the FFE proposal was entirely abandoned and binding assurances were provided. Fifa welcomed this development, assuring participation in the upcoming U-20 Women’s World Cup by six European teams: England, France, Italy, Portugal, Spain, and hosts Poland.
A Fifa spokesperson expressed belief in football’s unifying power, stating, "Fifa remains committed to developing the game in full dialogue with the confederations and stakeholders."
