The University of Malakand Hosts 5th Digital Pakistan Cybersecurity Hackathon

MALAKAND, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 15th Sep, 2026) The University of Malakand on Tuesday hosted the opening ceremony of the 5th Digital Pakistan Cybersecurity Hackathon 2026. The event brought together students, cybersecurity professionals, ethical hackers, and technology enthusiasts to showcase their skills and tackle real-world security challenges.
Organized by the IEEE Student Branch, Department of Software Engineering, and Cybersecurity of the University of Malakand, in collaboration with Ignite-National Technology Fund and the Ministry of IT and Telecom (MOITT), the event took place at the university’s Convocation Hall.
Dr Mir Azam Khan, Vice Chancellor UoM, attended as the chief guest, accompanied by Mr Mansoor Gillani from Ignite-National Technology Fund, MOITT, and trainers from Trillium Information Security, including Muhammad Zubair, Rehan Ali Nasir, Muhammad Abdullah, and Muhammad Hasnain.
Faculty members from the Faculty of Computing Sciences and Engineering welcomed the guests and participating students, among them:

- Dr Muhammad Faisal
- Dr Nasir Rashid
- Dr Khalil
- Dr Akhtar Badshah
- Dr Muhammad Zahid Khan
- Engr Shaukat
- Zeeshan Danish.
The hackathon provided participants with a platform to:
- Demonstrate cybersecurity skills
- Work on practical security challenges
- Interact with industry experts and trainers
The event aimed to promote innovative digital skills and contribute to strengthening Pakistan’s digital security.
Prof Dr Mir Azam Khan expressed his appreciation for the organizers, guests, and participants, highlighting their role in exposing students to emerging trends in cybersecurity and fostering the development of digital and technical skills.
