US Church on frontline of battle against drug known as 'tranq'

The BBC explores the US fight against a new, potent drug called "tranq". America’s War on Drugs has been ongoing for decades, but drug cartels and suppliers consistently stay ahead of the law. President Trump has even labeled cartels as "terrorists" and fentanyl as a "weapon of mass destruction".

However, the drug supply is evolving, with dangerous synthetic substances like strong animal tranquillizers mixed in. This poses a new challenge for recovery workers. While overdose deaths are decreasing, the increased potency of these new drugs is a serious concern.

Some believe the solution may lie in reducing demand, providing support to users, and helping them overcome addiction.

BBC international correspondent Quentin Sommerville and camera journalist Darren Conway traveled to Columbus, Ohio to investigate this issue further.
