WASHINGTON, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Sep, 2026) The US House of Representatives has passed a resolution concerning President Donald Trump’s war powers to end ongoing US military operations against Iran.
According to House records:
- 220 members voted in favor of the resolution.
- 204 opposed it.
- Nine did not participate in the vote.
The resolution calls on President Donald Trump to withdraw US armed forces from ongoing military operations against Iran under the War Powers Act, while allowing necessary action to defend US or allied military personnel and facilities.
All 213 Democratic members supported the resolution, while seven Republicans also voted in favor.
A total of 203 Republicans and one independent member opposed it.
US media reported that despite the House approval, the resolution would not immediately end the war with Iran. It must pass through further legal and political stages, and its prospects in the Senate will also be crucial.
Disagreements over war powers between the US Congress and President Trump have previously emerged over the Iran war. Earlier efforts in Congress to restrict US military operations failed to become effective law.

According to the Congressional Budget Office, the United States had spent approximately $38 billion on the war by August 2026, with further increases in expenditure expected.
