Ghislaine Maxwell’s Appeal Rejected
A US judge has dismissed Ghislaine Maxwell’s appeals against her sex trafficking conviction, calling them "frivolous" and "meritless."
Maxwell, serving a 20-year sentence, had argued that her constitutional rights were violated during her trial in 2021. However, the judge described her appeal as “lengthy and rambling”, and ruled against her.
The judge’s decision emphasized that Maxwell’s arguments were either procedurally barred, supported by incriminating evidence, or based on falsehoods. They also warned her against making further unsuccessful appeals.
Background
Maxwell was found guilty of facilitating Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse of minors. Prosecutors accused her of recruiting and grooming girls as young as 14 between 1994 and 2004.
She had earlier requested a pardon from President Donald Trump, which he declined to comment on. The US Senate has also expressed opposition to such a pardon.
