CARACAS, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM – 30th Aug, 2026) Venezuelan interim President Delcy Rodriguez declared on Saturday that an energy agreement with the U.S. would endure for 25 years, aiming to boost crude output to 1.5 million barrels per day (bpd) and safeguard the country’s sovereignty over its natural resources.

In a late-night address, Rodriguez celebrated the accord as a "historic" achievement that would contribute to economic revival and government revenue, shaping Venezuela’s future.

“This 25-year bilateral project encompasses the development of 17 strategic oilfields with a production target exceeding 1.5 million barrels per day," Rodriguez explained on state broadcaster VTV.

"This figure specifically pertains to the bilateral agreement between Venezuela and the United States."

Rodriguez further noted that the agreement’s 1.5 million bpd target was an initial objective, with plans for further expansion including the development of eight greenfield oil blocks as part of a broader energy sector enhancement strategy.
