WASA to Extend Full Support for JICA Survey on New Clean Drinking Water Project: MD

Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Managing Director (MD) Engineer Saqib Raza has said that full institutional support would be provided for the initial survey of a new Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) water supply project. He directed all relevant officers and staff to share complete information with the survey team and remove every possible hurdle during the field exercise.

Meeting with JICA Survey Team

Chairing a meeting with the JICA survey team, he stated that preparations were underway for a new project aimed at improving water supply facilities for citizens, with initial surveys already commenced. He instructed concerned officers and staff of WASA to extend complete cooperation to JICA survey team, providing all required information and technical assistance to ensure efficient and timely completion of the survey.

He emphasized that any administrative, technical, or operational obstacles encountered by the survey team should be promptly addressed and removed. Effective coordination between WASA and JICA was deemed essential for accurate data collection and proper planning of the proposed project.

Significance of the Project

Referring to the planned water treatment plant project at Jhang Branch Canal, he considered it a significant initiative for Faisalabad, addressing the need for safe and clean drinking water. He viewed the commencement of preliminary surveys as a positive step, aiding in assessing technical and operational requirements before implementation.

He highlighted the potential of the proposed treatment facility to strengthen Faisalabad’s drinking water supply system and improve access to safe water for residents. Emphasizing the importance of reliable clean water access for public health and quality of life, he underscored water supply and treatment projects as priorities for the city’s future infrastructure needs.

WASA’s Focus on Water Supply Improvement

The WASA Chief stated that the authority is focusing on various projects to enhance the provision of clean drinking water in line with Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz’s vision. He stressed the importance of coordinated planning, technical assessment, and effective implementation to translate this vision into sustainable improvements in public service delivery.

He also emphasized conducting a comprehensive survey phase to accurately assess all relevant technical, geographical, and operational aspects, ensuring the project is planned according to Faisalabad’s actual requirements.
