Watch: Moment humanoid robot beats Usain Bolt’s 100m record
A humanoid robot has achieved an impressive feat, running faster than the world record set by eight-time Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt for the 100m sprint. The robot, developed by China’s Beijing Innovation Centre of Humanoid Robotics, completed the distance in a mere 9.39 seconds at the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing.
This performance surpasses Bolt’s human record set back in 2009, when he ran 100m in 9.58 seconds. The robot also outpaced another Chinese-made model by smartphone maker Honor, which reportedly achieved a time of 9.32 seconds in a test run.
The robot games feature various events, including boxing, football, and even mundane household tasks like folding laundry. Our China correspondent Laura Bicker has more on this fascinating development.
