If Sohail Afridi cannot do anything, he should go home; if he is helpless, why does he not step down, says Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar.

Statement in Kohat

Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has stated that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) provincial government complains of a lack of resources for counterterrorism, but the issue is not funding—it is intent.

Speaking to journalists in Kohat, Tarar asked the provincial government to clarify where the funds allocated for law and order and development projects had gone. He claimed that PTI leaders should examine their own conduct before discussing funds, alleging they had awarded contracts to their preferred individuals. He also questioned who received mining contracts and urged the provincial government to work on development for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's people.

Tarar accused the political party of consuming all the funds and stated that PTI leaders will have to answer for 12.5 years in power.

He further said, "If Sohail Afridi cannot do anything, he should go home." Tarar criticized KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi for arriving by helicopter for only 15 minutes after a blast in Kohat, claiming the chief minister had time for political point-scoring but not for the province's people.

No Tolerance for Protests

The federal information minister made it clear that no one would be allowed to come to Islamabad and that PTI would not be permitted to spread destruction. He alleged that PTI had never held peaceful protests, describing their demonstrations as involving arson and gheraos. Tarar further claimed that PTI activists harassed women and harmed police during protests.

He stated that serious attempts had been made to hold talks, adding that the prime minister himself had called for dialogue six times. However, Tarar said, PTI leaders were not interested in negotiations; if they wanted a discussion, they should have held one much earlier.

Visit to Blast Victims

Earlier, the federal information minister visited the father of a security official martyred in the Kohat blast and inquired about injured personnel at the hospital. He praised the brave sons of the soil who sacrificed their lives defending the country and expressed his gratitude for the courageous participation of army and police officers in the operation. He vowed to bring terrorists to justice from their hiding places.
