Yorkshire Wildlife Park Remains Closed Following Tiger Attack

BBC News reports that Yorkshire Wildlife Park remains closed after a fatal tiger attack.

Police and the ambulance service were called to the park near Doncaster, South Yorkshire, at approximately 13:30 BST on Saturday, following reports of a man climbing into the tiger enclosure.

An eyewitness described seeing a man wearing headphones pacing near the enclosure before entering and being attacked by the tiger. The man sadly died at the scene.

A park spokesperson expressed their "heartfelt sympathies" to the man's family and confirmed that the Amur tiger, called Altai, would not be euthanized. They also stated that staff affected by the incident would receive specialist support.

South Yorkshire Police urged people not to share footage of the incident online and confirmed they are supporting the man's family.

Eyewitnesses, including Ella Ford, who filmed the tiger moments before the attack, described seeing a man climbing onto the enclosure barriers before entering and being attacked by the tiger. Ford reported the man shouting for help as the tiger grabbed him.

The park remains closed for the rest of the weekend while investigations are ongoing.
