Premier League clubs are making waves this summer not just through their spending, but also through significant sales. Aston Villa, Manchester City, and Newcastle United have already climbed into the top six for transfer income generated in a single window, challenging Monaco’s 2018-19 record of €360m.
Breaking Down the Records
Monaco’s landmark deal was fueled by notable departures like Kylian Mbappé to Paris St-Germain for €180m, Thomas Lemar to Atlético Madrid for €72m, and Fabinho to Liverpool for €45m.
Currently, only Monaco, Chelsea‘s projected €321m in 2025-26, and Atlético Madrid’s €314m in 2019-20 stand above the current trio.
Villa Leading the Race – But at a Cost
Aston Villa tops the list with Morgan Rogers’ €138m move to Chelsea accounting for a large portion of their total. They’ve also seen Ezri Konsa, Youri Tielemans, and Lucas Digne depart. Their strong positive transfer balance—€132.6m in profit—is a testament to their summer dealings, despite financial pressures.
Uefa fined Villa €22.5m for breaching its squad-cost rule, with €15m suspended on the condition they reduce their squad-cost ratio in 2026. The loss of senior players was evident in their 4-0 opening day defeat by Brighton.
Villa could still move closer to the record, with Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal pursuing Ollie Watkins.
Man City Could Overtake
Manchester City‘s position shifted with the signing of Ayyoub Bouaddi, bringing their total sales to €278.5m. They’ve seen players like Savio, Tijjani Reijnders, Rodri, James Trafford, Manuel Akanji, and Nathan Ake leave.
