Coventry & Warwickshire: Woman injured in fatal police pursuit crash dies
A woman who was critically injured when her car collided with a vehicle involved in a police pursuit has died.
Jacqui Anne (62) was driving a Ford Puma that hit an Audi A3 on the A439 Warwick Road near Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, on Monday. The 19-year-old man driving the Audi died at the scene.
The Audi had been pursued by police officers after it failed to stop when requested. The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is investigating.
"We can confirm that a woman who was critically injured… has, sadly, died," said the IOPC in a statement.
"Our thoughts are with the friends and families of both those who have died and both families have requested privacy at this difficult time."
Warwickshire Police referred the crash to the IOPC as a death occurred following police contact.
Background
- The pursuit began on Birmingham Road when officers attempted to stop the Audi but it failed to pull over.
- The collision happened around 15 minutes later.
- Another woman in the Ford suffered serious injuries, but they were not life threatening.
- Several other vehicles were damaged during the pursuit.
Local MP’s Reaction
Manuela Perteghella, Liberal Democrat MP for Stratford-on-Avon, described the incident as "incredibly tragic" and expressed her condolences to the affected families.
