ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 23rd Aug, 2026)
Member National Assembly (MNA), Parliamentary Secretary, National Heritage and Culture, and President Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) Women Wing Islamabad, Farah Naz Akbar said that women’s development, empowerment and effective participation in society were not merely women’s issues but fundamental requirements for Pakistan’s progress.
Addressing a seminar organized by Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal on women’s development and empowerment here on Sunday, she stated:
"A society could achieve genuine progress only when women, who constitute nearly half of its population, were provided equal opportunities to move forward."
Akbar emphasized the need to equip women with opportunities in:
- Education
- Skills development
- Entrepreneurship
- Technology
- The digital economy
- Politics
- Leadership and decision-making
She noted that Pakistan’s young women possess tremendous potential, especially in education and modern technology. With appropriate training, financial support, business opportunities, and access to markets, women could not only strengthen their families economically but also significantly contribute to the national economy.
The Parliamentary Secretary highlighted the importance of integrating women from rural and disadvantaged areas into the development process. She suggested that opportunities for dignified employment and economic independence could be created through:
- Handicrafts
- Cultural arts
- Home-based industries
- E-commerce
- Other skills
Farah Naz Akbar reminded that Pakistani women are the true custodians of the country’s culture, traditions, and national heritage. Linking traditional skills and cultural arts with modern markets could help preserve Pakistan’s cultural heritage while generating new employment and income sources for women.
She further emphasized the significance of women’s political participation, stating:
"Providing women with an effective role in the political process, legislation, and decision-making is essential."
Akbar attributed the Pakistan Muslim League-N’s commitment to women’s education, economic empowerment, and political participation. She called upon women to believe in their abilities, voice their concerns effectively, and move forward with determination to turn their dreams into reality.
She concluded by saying:
"Pakistan must be transformed into a country where every daughter has access to education, every woman receives dignity and respect, every skilled woman has employment opportunities, and every talented woman has the chance to lead. Empowered women will build stronger families; stronger families will build a stronger society, and a strong society is the foundation of a strong Pakistan."
