Health Minister Mustafa Kamal: 14 Months’ Work Surpasses 30 Years of Ministry’s Achievements
Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal has made a bold claim, asserting that his ministry’s performance in just 14 months surpasses the collective work of the Ministry of Health over the past 30 years. Speaking to journalists after visiting Polyclinic Phase 2, Kamal highlighted the vast difference between his efforts and the previous administration’s achievements, despite feeling embarrassed to constantly draw comparisons.
He attributed this to the fact that all the unfinished tasks from the previous two decades had been left for his current team to tackle.
Kamal pointed out the poor state of healthcare infrastructure in Islamabad, personally inspecting 28 dispensaries facing severe staff shortages. He blamed administrative complications, with files being sent back at the secretariat level due to perceived procedural flaws and objections, hindering his efforts to fill vacancies.
He provided details on the Polyclinic Phase 2 project, explaining that the plan had been expanded to include 100 additional beds, increasing the project cost from Rs9 billion to Rs16 billion. Despite numerous administrative hurdles, Kamal assured that the facility would be completed and open to the public by March 23, 2027.
