Work On Jabba Dam In Jamrud Suspended Over Security Concerns
PESHAWAR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 6th Sep, 2026) Construction work on Jabba Dam in Jamrud tehsil of Khyber district has been temporarily suspended due to security concerns, officials from the Irrigation Department and district administration said on Sunday.
According to sources, security arrangements are expected to be completed soon, after which construction work on the dam will resume. Officials said the construction company had already been facing security threats, while three security guards deployed at the dam have reportedly gone missing. To prevent further damage, machinery and construction equipment have been shifted from the site. The provincial government has allocated Rs8 billion for the construction of the dam.
The Irrigation Department described the Jabba Dam as a major public welfare project. Once completed, it is expected to benefit residents of Jamrud as well as Peshawar and provide protection against flood risks in areas including Regi and surrounding localities. Officials said that construction work would resume as soon as the security situation improves.
