Xinjiang CPC Secretary Chen Xiaojiang Welcomes CM Maryam Nawaz On Visit To Xinjiang

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif met with Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regional Committee, Chen Xiaojiang, on Tuesday, discussing ways to strengthen cooperation in agriculture, irrigation, livestock, and other sectors.

During the meeting, held in the presence of CPC Xinjiang Deputy Secretary He Zhongyu, Head of the Publicity Department Wang Jinzhen, Executive Vice Governor of Xinjiang Zhang Yingchen, and Provincial Deputy Secretary-General Li Qiyong, both parties agreed to:

  • Strengthen partnerships in agriculture, irrigation, and livestock sectors.
  • Explore the utilization of advanced aerial vehicles, modern water-levelling techniques, and digital crop-monitoring systems to enhance agricultural productivity.
  • Promote the use of tested Chinese seeds to increase crop yields.

The gathering emphasized the importance of cultural exchanges and the development of people-to-people contacts between Punjab and China. They also discussed regional stability and cooperation in line with China’s global strategy.

CM Maryam Nawaz highlighted Punjab’s significant role in Pakistan’s agricultural production, particularly in wheat, maize, sugarcane, and rice. She expressed Punjab’s desire to learn from Xinjiang’s corporate farming experience and aimed to expand collaboration with China in agriculture, industry, minerals, and new technologies.
