Pashtun homes and businesses have been destroyed in a war that was not ours, while Pashtuns were killed, defamed, and are now viewed with suspicion, says the former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister.

Reacting to Maryam Nawaz's Statement

Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, a senior Awami National Party (ANP) leader and former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, strongly reacted to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s statement. He expressed his disapproval over unnecessarily targeting Pashtuns with suspicion.

"Sister! What have we done to you? Pashtun homes and businesses have been destroyed in a war that was not ours. In other words, we were killed, we were defamed, and today those same Pashtuns are being viewed with suspicion."

Critique of Provincial Leadership

He also criticized the current political situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, highlighting the weakness of the provincial leadership.

"The chief minister sitting here is weaker than even a generator. The people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa gave him the vote, but instead of serving the public, he is only busy filling his pockets."

Hoti's View on Federal Government

Hoti further emphasized that even the federal government, headed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, lacks authority and responsiveness to public issues.

"The federal government and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also have no authority; if someone approaches them with an issue, the response is, ‘I will ask and let you know.’"
