485 Villages Of 10 Divisions Of Punjab Being Made ‘Model’, Minister LG
LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 19th Aug, 2026) A meeting chaired by Minister for Local Government Zeeshan Rafique held at the Civil Secretariat reviewed the progress on the Model Village Program, here on Wednesday.
Secretary Local Government Zaid Bin Maqsood, Special Secretary Shahid Zaman Lak, and Additional Secretary Mehreen Fahim Abbasi also attended the meeting, while Punjab Rural Municipal Services Company (PRMSC) CEO Khurram Pervez briefed the gathering.
Minister for Local Government Zeeshan Rafique expressed satisfaction over the 46 percent physical progress in the villages of Lahore division, directing PRMSC to adhere to the timeline. He stated that 485 villages across 10 divisions of Punjab are being transformed into "model" communities under the vision of “Maryam Nawaz’s Sohna (beautiful) Punjab”. He promised increased funding for the program in the upcoming fiscal year’s budget and pledged to gradually expand its scope.
The meeting also reviewed the Punjab Rural Sustainable Water Supply and Sanitation Project (PRSWSSP). The Minister highlighted that this project has been launched in villages of 16 tehsils in Punjab, aiming to provide clean water and sanitation facilities to 6 million rural residents upon completion. He noted that the pilot project of PRSWSSP has been successfully concluded. Prioritizing areas in greater need, he emphasized.
