AJK PM Launches Rs72 Million Project for Solar-Powered Streetlights

MIRPUR (AJK), (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point news – 19th Aug, 2026) Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir Faisal Mumtaz Rathore formally launched a Rs72 million project for the installation and upgradation of solar-powered streetlights in the state’s metropolis, Muzaffarabad.

He inaugurated the project by turning on the first solar streetlight at the Prime Minister House in Jalalabad.

Under the project, 480 solar streetlights will be installed across Muzaffarabad, including at entry and exit points, major roads, and other significant locations.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Rathore highlighted Muzaffarabad’s importance as the state’s capital and the need for its development. He praised the efforts of the chief secretary, his team, and officials from the Local Government Department and Muzaffarabad commissioner for their work on various development initiatives.

Rathore noted that his government has focused on overcoming political mistrust, improving governance, and initiating development projects in AJK, particularly in Muzaffarabad. He mentioned discussions regarding administrative reforms in Pakistan and argued that AJK meets the criteria for such a model due to its population and established administrative structure.

The prime minister highlighted his government’s achievements within seven months, emphasizing their focus on every sector and their commitment to the people’s welfare.
