Ashrafi Hails PM Shehbaz’s UN Address: A Reflection of Pakistani and Muslim World's Sentiments

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - September 26, 2026) Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council and Secretary-General of the International Tazeem-e-Haramain Sharifain Council, Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, has welcomed Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s address to the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. Ashrafi stated that the speech reflected the sentiments of the Pakistani nation, the Muslim world, Palestinians, and all those who hold the Haramain Sharifain in high reverence.

According to Ashrafi, the Prime Minister clearly articulated Pakistan's longstanding stances on Palestine, Kashmir, and the security and sanctity of Saudi Arabia's holy sites before the global community. He emphasized Pakistan's support for the Palestinian people and the people of Kashmir, considering the security, defense, and stability of the Haramain Sharifain as a fundamental matter.

During his address in New York on Friday, the Prime Minister strongly condemned recent Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia and declared that any threat to the safety and sanctity of the Haramain Sharifain is a "red line that must never be crossed." He also reaffirmed Pakistan's solidarity with the Saudi people.

Ashrafi assured that Pakistan remains committed to its principled positions and will continue to advocate for them at international platforms. He stressed that Pakistan cannot condone actions targeting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the sanctity of Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Madinah Al-Munawwarah, or the security of the Two Holy Mosques, regardless of the source of the threat.

Furthermore, Ashrafi welcomed the Prime Minister's reaffirmation of Pakistan's support for Saudi Arabia, highlighting that the UN address underscored Pakistan's importance regarding the Kingdom's sovereignty and security. He noted that the Prime Minister clarified that the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement among Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey is not directed against any country but represents a collective commitment to defense, stability, and peace in the region.

On behalf of the Pakistan Ulema Council and the International Tazeem-e-Haramain Sharifain Council, Ashrafi expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for presenting these positions before the international community. He concluded that the Prime Minister's remarks reflect Pakistan's dedication to protecting the sanctity of the Two Holy Mosques and its solidarity with peoples facing conflict and suffering.

Ashrafi prayed for Allah's protection over Pakistan, its people, Saudi Arabia, the Haramain Sharifain, and all Muslim countries, granting them peace, security, and stability.
