Attempts To Politicise Ishtiaq’s Tragic Accident Exposed By Family Statements

Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari revealed that the narrative surrounding Ishtiaq’s tragic accident has shifted after a significant video emerged. According to her, a family member made a crucial revelation in the presence of Sohail Afridi and Salman Akram, stating that Ishtiaq’s death was an accident and neither the government nor Punjab Police was involved.
In the video, a person claims that no one from the PTI leadership reached out to Ishtiaq’s family for 17 days following the incident. They shared their account of the conversation on X, emphasizing that the speaker, in Sohail Afridi’s presence, asserted Ishtiaq’s death was accidental and unlinked to any government or police involvement.
The individual also noted the absence of PTI leaders’ inquiries or contacts with the family during this period. Following this revelation, Sohail Afridi’s guards allegedly assaulted the speaker. This behavior was repeated when journalists attempted to record the incident in Lahore.
Uzma Bukhari further highlighted a statement from Ishtiaq’s son, confirming it was indeed an accident. She criticized YouTubers associated with the "Movement of Mischief" for misrepresenting the incident and accused Sohail Afridi of staging a publicity stunt. She noted his misconduct while entering Punjab and his behavior towards Punjab Police officers along the way.
She questioned if such conduct aligns with that of a chief executive, adding that Afridi arrived at Ishtiaq’s home in Lahore wearing dark glasses for political gain. Bukhari alleged that no PTI leader had visited Zul Shah’s family for three years and pointed out the party’s history of politicizing dead bodies, citing their founder as an example.
She emphasized that none of Afridi’s associates considered it appropriate to receive him upon his arrival in Lahore, noting that while four people were killed in a coal mine in Kohat on the same day, Afridi traveled 530 kilometers from Peshawar to Lahore out of courtesy. This visit marked his second trip to Lahore within a year.
