Bahrain Court Sentences Man to 5 Years for Supporting Iranian Attacks

The court imposed a fine of 2,000 Bahraini dinars (approximately 1.5 million Pakistani rupees) and ordered the confiscation of all seized electronic devices and security equipment.
MANAMA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 15th Sep, 2026) Bahrain’s High Court sentenced a man to five years in prison and fined him 2,000 Bahraini dinars for openly supporting and praising Iran’s terrorist attacks on the kingdom on social media and publishing viral content. The court also ordered the confiscation of all electronic devices and security equipment seized from the accused.
According to Gulf news, the Cybercrime Directorate, established under the Anti-Corruption, Economic and Electronic Security Directorate, received an intelligence report identifying a specific social media account.
The account was posting and sharing images, videos, and written messages praising and justifying the Iranian attacks on Bahrain.
The Public Prosecution arrested the accused, recorded witness statements, and had a team of experts conduct a forensic examination of the electronic devices. The examination confirmed all charges against the accused and the technical evidence of the crime.
Commenting on the court’s decision, the Public Prosecution clarified that while freedom of opinion and expression is guaranteed by law, social media must be used within legal limits and in a manner consistent with the country’s security.
It stressed that praising, justifying or promoting any form of terrorist activity is a serious punishable offence because such actions harm national security, public order, and social cohesion.
All citizens and foreign residents were urged to use social media responsibly and refrain from activities that could threaten the peace and stability of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
