CDNS Sets Rs1.53 Trillion Savings Mobilisation Target for FY2026-27
ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 19th Aug, 2026) The Central Directorate of National Savings (CDNS) has set a savings mobilisation target of Rs1.53 trillion for fiscal year 2026-27, aiming to deepen the national savings base, broaden investment opportunities, and promote greater financial inclusion.
This new target follows the successful mobilisation of Rs1.384 trillion during FY2025-26, enabling CDNS to fully meet its annual target and showcasing continued public confidence in government-backed savings schemes.
According to official sources, CDNS mobilised Rs1.384 trillion between July 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026. This achievement underscores the sustained demand for secure and low-risk investment avenues, even amidst changing economic conditions and growing competition within the financial sector.
Officials highlight CDNS’s focus on:
- Expanding the culture of household savings
- Attracting more investors into the formal financial system
- Providing citizens with reliable avenues for long-term investment
CDNS remains a crucial source of domestic resource mobilisation for the government, while its savings products encourage individuals and households to adopt structured financial planning.
Focus on Islamic Savings
As part of efforts to diversify its product portfolio, CDNS allocated Rs60 billion for Islamic savings instruments during FY2025-26. This initiative aims to offer investors Shariah-compliant alternatives while supporting the growth of Pakistan’s Islamic finance sector.
During FY2024-25, CDNS had set an overall savings mobilisation target of Rs1.65 trillion, including Rs170 billion for Islamic finance products, highlighting the institution’s continued commitment to diversifying investment options and widening access to financial services.
Consistent Mobilisation Performance
CDNS has maintained a strong savings mobilisation record in recent years:
- FY2023-24: Rs1.742 trillion (exceeding the Rs1.7 trillion target)
- FY2022-23: Achieved the Rs1.6 trillion mobilisation target
- FY2021-22: Initial target of Rs1.3 trillion revised upward to Rs1.4 trillion due to improved market conditions and stronger-than-anticipated mobilisation
Officials attribute this sustained performance to institutional reforms, improved efficiency, digital transformation, and customer-oriented measures aimed at making National Savings services more accessible.
The directorate has also enhanced its nationwide network and improved service delivery to facilitate investors, particularly those seeking secure government-backed investment products.
Officials express confidence that the new Rs1.53 trillion target for FY2026-27 will further strengthen Pakistan’s savings culture and support domestic resource mobilisation.
