Chairman WASA Punjab Visits Sialkot to Review Rainwater Drainage
UrduPoint (20 August 2026) reported that Chairman of the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Punjab, Chaudhry Sher Ali Khan, along with Secretary Housing and Urban Development, Noor-ul-Amin Mengal, visited Sialkot on the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. They examined the rainwater drainage process from low-lying areas of the city after a record 178mm rainfall from 3 am to 9 am.
MD WASA Faisal Shahzad was also present. The officials visited Kashmir Road, Khadim Ali Road, District Court, Gohadpur, Muradpur, and Nasir Town, assessing the post-rain situation.
Chaudhry Sher Ali Khan praised WASA Sialkot’s performance, stating that water drainage from previously flooded areas was now ensured within a few hours. He announced plans for new disposal stations to further expedite water drainage.
He highlighted the provincial government’s commitment to improving water supply and sewage systems, led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. He noted WASA Sialkot’s timely de-silting, enhancing the monsoon rainwater drainage system, and the ongoing de-silting campaign across the province.
