Commissioner Mirpurkhas Orders Awareness Drive and Survey for Fire Safety

Divisional Commissioner (DC) Shahmir Bhutto has directed Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners across his division to:

  • Create awareness among the public about installing fire extinguishers in shops, government, and private buildings.
  • Implement preventive measures against sudden fire incidents.

He made these directives while chairing a meeting on safety arrangements and fire incident prevention at the Commissioner Office Committee Hall.

Key Actions:

  • Installation of Fire Extinguishers: Shopkeepers and government institutions are ordered to install fire extinguishers and learn about advanced safety arrangements for saving lives in case of fire.
  • Follow-up Meeting: A follow-up meeting will be held after a week.
  • Survey of Weak Buildings: All Assistant Commissioners must conduct a survey of extremely weak buildings constructed without approval from the Sindh Building Control Authority and submit a detailed report.
  • Notification to Owners: Issue notices to owners of such buildings, requiring them to make necessary safety arrangements in case of fire.

Meeting Insights:

During the meeting, it was informed that 135 buildings have been identified across the division, including:

  • 26 in Mirpurkhas
  • 36 in Taluka Hussain Bux Marri
  • And many more… (a detailed list is provided)

Immediate Action Required:

The Commissioner directed that these buildings be surveyed immediately and advanced safety measures be ensured.
