Court Defers Indictment of Imaan Mazari and Hadi Chatha

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Oct, 2026) The indictment of Imaan Mazari and her husband Hadi Ali Chattha was deferred on Tuesday after they could not be produced before the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) due to a power outage at Adiala Jail.

Hearing

ATC Islamabad Judge Tahir Abbas Supra heard the case registered against the couple for allegedly breaking a route and inciting people during the arrival of an international cricket team.

Prosecutor Raja Naveed and junior counsels representing the accused appeared before the court. The junior counsel requested the court to provide copies of the charge sheet and fix another date, stating that the main counsels were appearing before the Islamabad High Court.

The judge noted that copies of the charge sheet had already been provided and that the court was scheduled to frame charges against the accused. The counsel further argued that they were not being allowed access to their clients.

Observing that the vakalatnamas (power of attorney documents) had already been signed, the judge stated that the court could not allow proceedings to be managed according to the convenience of the parties.

The court adjourned the proceedings until 11:30 a.m. for the appearance of the main counsels and framing of charges. However, the accused could not be produced through video link due to the power outage at Adiala Jail, leading to another postponement.

Direction to Jail Authorities

The court directed jail authorities to ensure the accused were produced through video link at the next hearing, warning that failure to do so would result in contempt of court proceedings against the jail officials. It also instructed the authorities to facilitate access to lawyers for Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha.

The hearing was further adjourned until Wednesday, when charges are expected to be framed against the two accused.

A case against Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha was registered at Aabpara Police Station, Islamabad.
