Create Smaller Provinces, But Follow Proper Timing and Constitutional Process: Saad Rafique

Prioritizing the creation of smaller provinces over addressing Pakistan's terrorism, political chaos, and economic crisis would be a mistake, according to former federal minister and PML-N leader, Khawaja Saad Rafique.

Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader and former Federal minister Khawaja Saad Rafique has argued for the creation of smaller provinces but stressed the need for appropriate timing and a constitutional process.
In a X statement, he stated that focusing on province formation while Pakistan grapples with terrorism, political turmoil, and economic hardship would fuel divisions.
Rafique suggested establishing a Provincial Finance Commission modeled after the National Finance Commission to improve governance. He also advocated for an empowered local government system and transferring powers from provinces to districts.
The PML-N leader urged unity among federal and provincial governments and security institutions in responding to the Kohat attack, emphasizing the need for a coordinated strategy.
He concluded that fighting terrorism, poverty, and injustice requires collaboration, criticizing those who prioritize internal conflicts over national challenges.
