City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi have issued a comprehensive traffic diversion plan in connection with the Peshawar Road remodelling project, which is scheduled to formally begin on Tuesday.
According to CTP spokesperson, more than 250 traffic personnel will be deployed in three shifts during the construction work. Additional personnel have also been assigned to alternative routes to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.
Under the diversion plan:
- Motorists travelling from Saddar towards Peshawar Road would use Abid Majeed Road and Sher Khan Chowk.
- Traffic heading from Range Road towards Saddar and 22 Number would be diverted through Sher Khan Chowk and Khattak Chowk.
- During working hours, traffic heading from Peshawar Road towards Saddar would be diverted via Allahabad Turn, Haali Road and the service road opposite Rafay Mall.
The Traffic Police stated that traffic diversions would be installed at various points along Peshawar Road during the remodelling work.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi, Farhan Aslam, said motorists would be kept informed about the traffic situation through FM 88.6 and the traffic police’s social media platforms. He urged citizens to use alternative routes during the construction period, stressing that maintaining smooth traffic flow would depend not only on the deployment of traffic personnel but also on cooperation from motorists.
The Traffic Police have appealed to citizens to plan their journeys in advance and follow the diversion routes to minimise congestion and inconvenience during the project.
