Caroline Dubois vs Amelia Moore: Win for Briton keeps Alycia Baumgardner showdown in picture
BBC Sport reports on a boxing match between Caroline Dubois and Amelia Moore.
Box Score
- Result: Caroline Dubois (WBC and WBO lightweight champion) defeated Amelia Moore via unanimous judges' decision (99-90, 99-90, 98-91)
- Round: Fifth round knockout of Moore
Match Recap
In a dominant performance at the BP Pulse Arena in Birmingham, Dubois defended her titles and maintained her path towards a potential bout with unified super-featherweight champion Alycia Baumgardner in 2027.
Despite her favorite status, Dubois faced a challenging opponent in Moore, who, despite her amateur career achievements, lacked the skill to trouble the Briton. Dubois, in her 15th professional fight, outclassed Moore, showcasing her power and presence while maintaining a speed advantage.
After the fight, a war of words ensued between Dubois and Baumgardner, with the latter accusing the former of "tightening up" and showing signs of fatigue.
The anticipation builds for a potential matchup between Dubois and Baumgardner, especially if Baumgardner successfully defends her title against Elif Nur Turhan in November.
Post-Fight Reactions
Dubois, known for her brash and self-confident personality, called out Baumgardner, stating, "I am the best here." She also revealed a significant change in her training, having switched from Shane McGuigan to renowned US trainer Manny Robles.
Baumgardner expressed her desire to face Dubois, stating, "I absolutely want to fight Dubois," setting the stage for a potential MVP showcase of women's boxing.
