ECB investigates Carse ‘nightclub incident’

England Bowler Brydon Carse Under ECB Investigation for Reported Nightclub Incident

BBC Sport reports that England bowler Brydon Carse is under investigation by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) following a reported nightclub incident in Derby on Saturday.

Videos circulating on social media show Carse, accompanied by team-mate Matthew Potts, being led away from a club by four police officers while in handcuffs. Although Carse was not on official England duty at the time, he is due to meet up with the squad on Monday ahead of the second Test against Pakistan.

An ECB statement confirmed:

"We are aware of an incident which is reported to have taken place in Derby last night, and are currently investigating."

This investigation comes just days after England captain Joe Root urged his players to be "really good role models" during his second reign as Test captain.

England has experienced a tumultuous summer with several off-field issues, including retirements, coach changes, and team curfew breaches, leading to a heavy series defeat by Australia and a chaotic six weeks overall.

Carse himself faced suspension from cricket for three months in 2024 due to historic betting offences, though he was not involved in any matches during that period.
