Gilani, GB Assembly Speaker Discuss Political Situation, Regional Issues
ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 18th Aug, 2026) Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani and Speaker of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Imran Nadeem Shigri on Tuesday discussed the prevailing political situation in the country, regional developments, the newly elected Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly, and key issues confronting the region.
During a meeting, Gilani congratulated the Speaker on his election as Speaker of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly and expressed his best wishes to him and all newly elected members of the assembly.
The Senate chairman stated that the people of Gilgit-Baltistan had placed their trust in the
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). He emphasized the PPP’s commitment to public service, democratic values, and politics focused on the welfare of its citizens.
Confidently, he assured that every possible measure would be taken to fulfill the expectations of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan. Gilani promised to offer every possible support for the region’s development, prosperity, and welfare.
He noted the Senate’s role as a constitutional forum in strengthening coordination among federating units and expressed its dedication to promoting Gilgit-Baltistan’s development and addressing its challenges.
During the meeting, the speaker briefed Gilani on the difficulties faced by Gilgit-Baltistan. The Senator assured the speaker of his cooperation in tackling these issues, accelerating development, and enhancing the region’s well-being.
