Google to Restrict Free Access to Gemini AI Models

Google will restrict free access to some of its Gemini artificial intelligence models under changes to model availability taking effect this month. Starting on October 9, users without a Google AI subscription will only have access to Flash-Lite, rather than the three models previously available.

Under the changes, Google AI Plus subscribers will have access to Flash-Lite and Flash but not Pro. They will receive an email notifying them of the changes. Subscribers to Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra will continue to access all three models—Flash-Lite, Flash, and Pro.

Additionally, AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers will have access to Deep Think, an option designed for complex tasks requiring maximum parallel reasoning.
