A video has surfaced showing the D.I. Khan-Mianwali CPEC highway being blocked with sand-filled containers.

A Testimony to the Government's Strategy

According to media reports, the government has taken drastic measures by mobilizing machinery to block highways and dig trenches in an attempt to stop the PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) long march. The video on X showcases the D.I. Khan-Mianwali CPEC highway being obstructed with sand-filled containers. Heavy machinery, including tractors, is being used to close off the highway.

Reports indicate that the federal government is erecting road barriers and digging extensive trenches along routes leading from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Islamabad. These measures are part of a strategic plan to prevent PTI protesters from reaching the capital. The targeted roads include:

  • GT Road
  • 26 Number Chungi, Pirwadhai
  • IGP Road
  • Aswal Road
  • Kati Pahari

Federal Government's Stance

Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has expressed his confusion regarding PTI's justification for marching to Islamabad. He emphasized that a space for protest is allocated for those who maintain peace, contrasting it with the PTI's perceived aggressive behavior. Tarar claimed that the government found weapons, sticks, and slingshots during these protests, implying a potential threat to public safety.

He also questioned the PTI's use of resources belonging to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for political purposes. The minister suggested that talks should only occur when there is clarity on who within the PTI has the authority to negotiate. Tarar highlighted a contrasting example of Jamaat-e-Islami, whose supporters are known for maintaining cleanliness after their gatherings. He firmly declared that the PTI would not be permitted to disrupt Islamabad's peace and security.

The information minister concluded by advising the PTI to reconsider its actions, warning them of consequences they would "always remember" if they persist in their current path.
