Iceland Summons US Ambassador Over Trump's Controversial Map

Icelandic Prime Minister Kristrún Frostadóttir has condemned US President Donald Trump’s recent social media post, stating that it insulted the people of Iceland, Canada, and Greenland. She emphasized that mocking state sovereignty is neither acceptable nor normal.
The diplomatic dispute arose when Trump shared a map on Truth Social, depicting the United States, Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Mexico, and parts of the Caribbean as a single landmass, entirely covered by the US flag and labeled "United States of America."
In response, the Icelandic government summoned US Ambassador Billy Long to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and lodged a formal protest.
Icelandic Prime Minister Frostadóttir declared:
There is nothing funny or normal about mocking the sovereignty of states.
Additionally, Iceland's Foreign Minister Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir described the map as highly inappropriate, reiterating Iceland's status as a sovereign nation and rejecting any foreign claims on its territory.
