Pakistan’s Response to Indian Accusations: Sherry Rehman
ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 18th Aug, 2026)
Pakistani Peoples Party Senator Sherry Rehman has strongly rejected the allegations made by Indian Home Minister Amit Shah against Pakistan, calling them an attempt to manufacture an anti-Pakistan narrative.
"India’s latest accusations follow the same tired pattern: make allegations against Pakistan, provide no credible evidence, and use the narrative for domestic political consumption. Pakistan will not become a convenient scapegoat for India’s own security challenges. Bharat is a global terrorist,” stated Senator Rehman.
She noted that Indian claims regarding the arrest of over 200 alleged "terror operatives" across 14 states, and their attempts to link these arrests to Pakistan, lack verifiable evidence.
“India cannot simply attach a Pakistani label to arrests made within its own territory and expect the world to accept the claim as fact. Allegations are not evidence, and propaganda cannot substitute for a credible investigation,” she added.
Senator Rehman highlighted that the timing and nature of these accusations suggest a deliberate effort to create an external enemy narrative.
"The Modi government repeatedly invokes Pakistan whenever it needs to deflect attention from the realities at home. This is not counter terrorism; it is political theatre designed to serve domestic interests.”
She emphasized that Pakistan has consistently raised concerns about Indian involvement in terrorism and destabilization inside Pakistan, providing evidence to international forums.
"Pakistan has not relied on empty accusations. We have repeatedly brought forward evidence of Indian involvement in terrorist and destabilizing activities on Pakistani soil. The case of Kulbhushan Jadhav remains one of the most serious examples of Indian state involvement that Pakistan has placed before the world,” said Senator Rehman.
She also asked India to explain its presence and activities of an Indian intelligence operative in Balochistan if it had no role in destabilizing Pakistan.
Senator Rehman concluded by stating that India’s conduct must be assessed not only through its statements about terrorism but also through its record within and beyond its borders:
"A government that suppresses dissent, marginalizes minorities and uses coercive state power at home cannot present itself as the sole authority on terrorism abroad. India’s record of enabling and exporting destabilization beyond its borders deserves far greater international scrutiny."
