Sinner & Draper withdraw from US Open

World number one Jannik Sinner and Britain’s Jack Draper have both withdrawn from the upcoming US Open due to injury.
The 25-year-old Sinner, who won Wimbledon in July, is dealing with a knee problem. Draper, who lost to Sinner in the 2024 US Open semi-finals, has withdrawn because of a long-term arm injury.
"Even though I have been working hard… we have realised that I still need more time to recover from my right knee issue," said Sinner.
Sinner’s decision comes a day after his rival Carlos Alcaraz announced his return to action at Flushing Meadows after a four-month absence with a wrist injury.
With Alcaraz sidelined, Sinner has dominated the men’s tour in 2026 and currently tops the world rankings.
He won his fifth career Grand Slam singles title at Wimbledon by defeating Alexander Zverev.
Sinner’s withdrawal means he and Alcaraz, who won all four Grand Slams in 2024 and 2025, have not both been present at the past three Grand Slams. Alcaraz’s wrist injury also stopped him from playing at the French Open and Wimbledon.
The US Open singles main draws begin on Sunday 30 August.
