An old station house in Bleasby, Nottinghamshire, up for auction has captured attention online after being dubbed the "scariest house on Rightmove".
Dating back to the 1840s when the railway station opened, the property would have been home to the station masters who managed the barriers. However, it's not its historical significance but its eerie appearance in listing images that has people talking.
Area manager at Auction House Notts & Derby, Jonathan Way, attributes much of the fascination to a "creepy doll" left standing in a bedroom corner.
The house, previously empty and subject to several break-ins, had been boarded up downstairs and lacked natural light. The upstairs, while not as bad, featured the doll and a pram that added to its unsettling atmosphere.
Way describes his first visit:
"It was a little bit unsettling... There wasn't any natural light downstairs. The lights weren't working either so we had to use phone lights to move around. Upstairs wasn't too bad but the doll and the pram were a little bit creepy."
The property recently gained fame through the Housing Horrors TikTok account, which shares unusual property listings nationwide. A video dubbing the house the "scariest on Rightmove" has since gone viral. Some viewers find it a fun spooky spot, while others question its low asking price.
Despite the eerie presentation, Way reports strong interest in the property, set to go under the hammer on 28 September.
"You get the odd quirky [property], but I've not really done one like that before. It's a really old station house... it hasn't been touched for a number of years."
